"Boundless indeed is the science of language,
but life is short and obstacles are numerous.
Hence take what is good and leave what is worthless,
as geese take milk from the midst of water."
I am a linguist in mind and a musician at heart. I grew up in Bhatpara, a suburb on the outskirts of Kolkata in a family which produced some of the greatest torchbearers of oriental learning (logic, hermeneutics, grammar, law) for more than three centuries. I was exposed to music at an early age and took to learning Sitar. I learnt it formally under several able professional musicians and it has now become my all-time companion.
After having completed my Bachelor's (English) and Master's (Linguistics) degrees and a brief stint with French language and literature, I moved towards research in Computational Linguistics in Sanskrit under the guidance of Prof. Malhar Kulkarni at IIT Bombay.
