Lina Sonne Vyas

I am Associate Professor of Innovation & Entrepreneurship at the Desai Sethi School of Entrepreneurship (DSSE). My work sits at the intersection of AI, business + entrepreneurship, and societal impact.

I run the AI Praxis Lab, where we study how AI affects business, entrepreneurs and society, and how these changes play out in practice. The AI Praxis Lab looks at how AI is used, put into practice, and governed across businesses, public services, and social impact work — from small enterprises and startups to rural communities and social entrepreneurs. Previously, I was Associate Professor at FLAME School of Business, FLAME University, Pune, and at Jindal School of Liberal Arts & Humanities at Jindal Global University in Sonipat, Haryana. Before that, I set up and ran Inblick Innovation Advisory in Mumbai; built a research and consulting portfolio at Okapi Research & Advisory, Mumbai; and co-led research at Intellecap, Mumbai. Prior to moving to India, I was a researcher on innovation and technology policy with UNU-MERIT, the Netherlands, and an Analyst in the early-stage investment team at NESTA, UK.

I hold a PhD in Economics of Innovation from UNU-MERIT and Maastricht University, Netherlands; an MSc in Business Economics from City, University of London; and a PG Diploma in Modern & Contemporary Indian Art History from the Bhau Daji Lad Museum, Mumbai.

I have led cross-sectoral projects in multiple South Asian countries, worked with partners across private, academic, non-profit and public sectors in India and abroad. I have lived, studied and worked across five countries, and have been based in India since 2011.
