Students take development work to the district administration

Interns from Kolhapur Institute of Technology (KIT), placed in Dharashiv as part of UMA's Geographic Information Officer (GIO) programme, presented their field work to the Dharashiv District Collector. The presentation was well-received by the administration.

The interns carried out GIS-based mapping, infrastructure surveys, and community-level data collection in Dharashiv district โ€” work that directly supports the district administration's planning processes. This engagement demonstrates how engineering students, when embedded in a district context, can contribute meaningfully to governance and local development.

"The presentation was well-received by the Collector and the district administration โ€” a strong signal of what students can contribute when given the right context and support."

This event is part of UMA's broader effort to build lasting linkages between higher education institutions and district governments across Maharashtra, creating pathways for students to engage in real development work as part of their academic programme.
