The UMA–IIT Bombay workshop conducted at Government College of Engineering, Yavatmal in 2024 transformed classroom learning into career opportunities. 66 students were trained in GIS mapping, QGIS, power flow modelling, and field-based power distribution studies — skills rarely taught in conventional engineering programs.
Inspired by the exposure, 13 students opted for a six-month field internship under UMA–IIT Bombay, and an impressive 12 of them secured placements upon graduation in 2026. Among the remaining 53 students, 33 leveraged the knowledge and practical skills gained through the workshop to strengthen their employability and secure jobs.
Overall, 45 students from the batch were placed, with recruiters particularly impressed by their industry-relevant technical skills. MSEDCL engineers appreciated the quality of student work and project reports, paving the way for future collaborations.
The success of this initiative was so significant that the institute continued similar academic activities for subsequent batches, creating a lasting impact on student outcomes and industry engagement.
