Hi!
I am Gaurav Waratkar, a fifth-year PhD student at the Department of Physics, IIT Bombay.
With my supervisor Prof. Varun Bhalerao, I am studying high-energy transients like
Gamma-ray Bursts (GRBs), Fast-radio Bursts (FRBs), and counterparts to gravitational
wave sources using AstroSat-CZTI.
I am also a part of the team that is building Daksha, world's most sensitive X-ray
transient telescope, proposed to ISRO.
I am a part of the low-latency infrastrcuture team in the LIGO Science
Collaboration.
I was born in the city of Nagpur, located in the central part of India. After
spending
18 years of my life there, I moved to Mumbai for my Bachelors' in Mechanical
Engineering
from IIT Bombay.
I then joined Prof. Varun Bhalerao as a Graduate student in 2020 to work on my
Ph.D.
focussed on Astrophysics and Instrumentation.
