Hi!
I am Gaurav Waratkar, a fifth-year PhD student at the Department of Physics, IIT Bombay.
.
With my guide Prof. Varun Bhalerao, I am studying high energy transients like Gamma-ray bursts, Fast-radio bursts, and counterparts to Gravitational wave sources using AstroSat-CZTI.
I am also a part of the team that is building Daksha, world's most sensitive X-ray transient telescope, proposed to ISRO.
I am a part of the low-latency infrastrcuture team in LIGO Science Collaboration.
.
I was born in the city of Nagpur, located in the central part of India. After spending 18 years of my life there, I moved to Mumbai for my Bachelors' in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Bombay.
I moved my focus from Engineering to pursue a career in Astrophysics by joining Prof. Varun Bhalerao as a Graduate student starting in Jan 2020.
.
Apart from work, I usually spend my time watching movies, e-sports, football (COYS!), and spending time close to the nature.
