About Me

Some additional details about me

Interest in engineering

Why did you get into engineering?

I was fascinated by engineering education, for its fundamental role in applying science to solve practical problems with enormous implications for nature and society.

What are your research goals?

My research goals are: (1) to advance our understanding of hydrologic systems and processes; (2) to improve our ability in water resources assessment, planning, and management; and (3) to identify effective ways for communicating water (and other) research to the wider community.

What do people not understand about you do?

My research mainly involves development and application of modern scientific concepts and methods to study hydrologic and water resources systems. Understanding these generally sophisticated concepts and methods can be a tremendous challenge, especially for someone new to engineering education and research. This is why improving communication of scientific and engineering research is one of my research goals.

Advice for prospective [civil and environmental] engineers

Civil and environmental engineers have a vital role to play in managing the health of our environment and advancing our society, especially through building sustainable infrastructure, better water planning, and more effective soil conservation.
